San José

Today was the only day I had an outing this week. The other afternoons I chatted with my host mom, kicked a soccer ball with her 2 year old grandson, ate lunch with friends, walked around my host city, and just slowed down a little. 

Today we went into San José. We saw the National Theater, went to the National Museum and the Gold Museum, and then went to a huge souvenir market. 

Here are a few snapshots. My favorite part today was holding a butterfly! I also enjoyed the money section of the Gold Museum. The picture of coins I took because I have almost all of the coins in the bottom row from my first trip to Costa Rica in 2003.

week 3

Finished my third week of class. I think this week's group of students was the most evenly leveled. Obviously it is extremely difficult to always have 3-4 students at exactly the same level, but this week we really were. We were also all teachers! Our new student was a French teacher. And the bilingual sped teacher from last week is still here and will be here with me next week too. It's been so nice to have one constant companion. We're going shopping together on Monday! This week we worked on present and imperfect subjunctive and next week we finish subjunctive! Feeling like I have a better grasp on it now, but definitely still need practice. It is so hard to fully grasp something that doesn't exist in English. Each week you get a different teacher, but next week we get my teacher from the first week again so that will be great. week 4

Today was my last day of class. Four weeks flew by. This week we reviewed subjunctive and then did a review of all verb tenses. We also played word games and talked a lot. It was a great week. It was just Natalie and I in class with Sydnia again so it was very relaxed while still being beneficial. I think it was my favorite week. I really enjoyed spending three weeks with Natalie and loved having Sydnia as a teacher twice. Her style works really well for me. I like calm and informal. I like my summers to be chill. Tomorrow I'm hanging out with my host mom all day and going out to dinner with her extended family. I'll definitely miss people here but obviously I'm ready to get home too.

wildlife rescue center

Today after class a few of us took a tour of an animal rescue center. Our guide from Argentina was great and I learned tons about the different animals. We talked a lot about endangered species, invasive species, and native species of animals. This rescue provides the animals that cannot be safely released back into the wild for various reasons a safe place that is as close to their natural habitat as possible. 1. The entrance 2.
